Questions parents ask us.
Does my teen need to know how to code?
No coding experience needed. Your teen describes what they want in plain English and the AI tools write the code. Their job is deciding what to build, testing it and improving it until it works.
Which AI tools will they use?
ChatGPT Plus and Codex, on your teen's own account, linked to your account as the parent. OpenAI requires users to be 13 or older. Their finished app is hosted online at builderslab.sg.
Is it safe?
Your teen works on their own ChatGPT account, linked to yours, so the parental controls sit with you. The group is 9 students max, so every teen gets close attention. Projects go online under a first name or nickname.
What should they bring?
A laptop and its charger. It needs to let you install apps, so a home laptop usually works better than a school-issued one. We'll send setup steps before the camp.
How much of it is screen time?
Building happens on a laptop. Part of day 1 is spent away from it, talking to people about the problem your teen picked. Demo Day is your teen standing up and presenting.
What happens after I apply?
We set up a short chat with you. You ask your questions, and we check it's a good fit for your teen. Then we confirm the spot.
